Veterans essay

Veterans risk their lives every day for us; they even risked being injured for us. Their lives could change at any point in time during the war. “Mothers, sisters, fathers, brothers, and grandparents can go to sleep at night without worrying,” said Greg Blackburn. He also said, “A conflict is when two people throw stones at each other and a war is when two people shoot each other.” It is important to honor
veterans every day and not just once a year because they serve us every day, not just one day a year.
My grandpa Bill was in the Vietnam, but some of the others he fought with might know him as William Houghtby. My grandpa was a welder for the core of engineers. He said it was hot, humid, very noisy, and rainy. It would rain for 20 days in a row it was called monsoon season, lots of bugs worse than here in the summertime, and guns, bombs, helicopters going off at night. He was in a couple of fights with a couple of guys. He got to shoot the gun a couple of time at the people who he thought was the enemy because they
were on the other side of the fence, and the other side of the fence was open range. He was just there more less having fun, he didn’t do much because there wasn’t much going on during the end of the war, 70 or 71. He was only 18 and he was fighting and/or helping. He hauled heavy machinery back and forth between bases; they carried them on cattle trailer but it hauled humans and had little windows so they could see out. “We should have stayed and won the war because we lost 50,000 thousand people and in my opinion it was like a waste for those people to lose their lives because we didn’t win the war,” is a quote said by my grandpa. He also said all the vets were treated terribly when they got home compared to how we treat them now. Ever since the Vietnam we have started treating veterans a lot better than we did before.
So, I am so thankful for my grandpa and many other veterans that served for our country. I thank you so much for all the ones who died or risked their lives. I have met many veterans and some of the veterans I didn’t even know they were veterans at first. Once I found out they were veterans I thanked them for their service. It is respected to show your thanks towards veterans, so I encourage you to do the same.

Beautiful Sites Around Our Town

I chose this picture because the color of the light orange and yellow leaves are mixing together just sets my mind for the mood. When the colors are mixed together you mainly see yellow. The leaves are falling soon, and they are changing colors and I love to take pictures like this because of that reason.

I chose this picture basically for the same reason as the top one. I love when the green and the orange mixes together in the leaves. I am even sure I saw a leave half green and half orange, as if it was in the middle.

This is my classmate's cat, and it is so cute in my opinion. I chose it because the light hit the cat just right in the picture. Also, the cat is not smack dab in the middle like most of the objects in almost all my pictures.

Don't Get Sued!

Something that surprised me is anyone can sue you for using their picture and you have to ask them if it is okay to use is. I learned that even if you credit them they can still sue you. I am not going to use Google images so freely now because I do not want to be sued.

Memes

We have been working with run-on sentences, and different ways to avoid writing them. Our teacher asked us to create three different memes; each containing a sentence that shows a different way to avoid run-ons. Each meme's sentence must connect to the meme.

Some Things To Know About Me

When I think of people, I like them to be creative, have a fun personality, and they are not judge or rude. Like I get judge a lot for the way I am, and no one really knows me for me, only a few do. Mostly people talk to me once or twice and are like “Yea she’s not a good person. She is not even funny,” and they go on and on about how not to be friends with me. Also, I like how a person doesn’t care about looks either or if a person looks on the inside of a person. Making conversation is even hard for me, and when I can't make it, I make it awkward. Honestly, I'm not even much of a people person because of that reason.

Mainly, I am with my horses, reading, or even playing sports. Horses, dogs, and what people are thinking or what's going through their mind is what interest me the most and what I am usually curious about. Usually, I am with my horses learning how to sit in my seat. Even my dream vacation is going to Tennessee, because it is the home of country music, I would bring my horses, and maybe even meet Lane Hardy. Because I play sports and ride horses in my free time, I am decently good at riding horses and pretty good at volleyball I would say.

Interesting, amazing extra facts about me are wanting to be a teacher when I get older, because I love little kids, I love to babysit kids a lot, and when I read to other people or help other people it motivates me to want to do it better. Because I like scary things and ghosts, I would probably live in a haunted house. Smart, creative the person inspires me the most is Maliah Grenoble, because she is skinny, very athletic, pretty, crazy smart, and the most creative person I know. She is not even judgy or rude to people she usually very welcoming or sees the best in people and gives the best advice.
